Yes, I did try the --checkpoint option but it doesn't seem to be doing anything even though I have in the command i use to run the indexing. Here is what I use:
"/usr/local/bin/mknmz --checkpoint -O /oracle6/metalink/serversindex /oracle6/metalink/servers".

Were the following options tried? Because indexing takes a lot of memory.
Please add and try --checkpoint option, at the time of mknmz execution.
